There are multiple ways to install the SendGrid pixel. Once installed, you can track and associate page views, events, and purchases to individual users.

  1. Manual installation
  2. WordPress installation
  3. Using Google Tag Manager

Manual Installation

To manually install the SendGrid pixel on your website, you'll need to copy the custom script from within your SendGrid Ads account.

  1. Visit the tracking section located under Integrations
  2. Copy your custom script and install in all pages of your website before the closing </body> tag.

WordPress Installation

To install the SendGrid pixel on your WordPress site, you will need to be able to paste the script into the HTML of your website. This is most commonly accomplished by installing a plugin that allows easy installation of scripts. 

  1. Visit the tracking section located under Integrations
  2. Copy your custom script and install in all pages of your website before the closing </body> tag.
  3. Install a plugin that allows you to install scripts on your site. A plugin we recommend is Header and Footer.
  4. Go to the plugin and paste your SendGrid pixel into the body of your site, ideally just before the closing </body> tag.

Using Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager is a great tool that can help manage the installation of multiple scripts on your site. To install your SendGrid pixel into Google Tag Manager, you'll need to copy the custom script from within your SendGrid Ads account.

  1. Visit the tracking section located under Integrations and copy your custom script
  2. Visit your Google Tag Manager account and select the appropriate container
  3. In the left navigation, select Tags and then click the New button
  4. Replace Untitled Tag with SendGrid pixel as the name
  5. Click Tag Configuration and locate Custom HTML
  6. Paste the copied SendGrid Tracking Script into the box
  7. Click Triggering and select All Pages
  8. Click the Save button
  9. Publish your changes

Confirm your the script is installed correctly

Once you have installed your script, your final step is to verify that it is tracking correctly.

  1. Visit the tracking section located under Integrations
  2. Enter your site address and click the Verify Tracking button

Once the SendGrid script is properly installed, you're now ready to identify your web visitors and track page views!
